	"Dope" was used in regard to the old 19th Century invention
Coke-Cola when the coke was short for cocaine. Commonly used in
the Southern USA I am given to understand, definitely slang
as is the term "Dope" for a stupid individual.  I suggest that
the terms "dope" are related to typical behavior under the
influence of opoid substances.  This was most likely seen in
war veterans who suffering chronic pain were kept on opiates
to dull the pain and unfortunately the intellect.

	In typical sloppy fa****on the term dope has been extended
to a variety of substances some of which scarcely cause "dopey"
behaviors.
