	Actually there are very few buses.  As to the trains the oil
and automotive interests got them torn up and the right of way
converted to car lanes.  So people got out of the habit of using these
older forms of trans****tation.
	But some cities are better than other in these regards we have
nearly enough bus service in San Francisco and even a commuter
underground rail or two as well as a surface rail.  People in the
finest suburbs may be able to ride the Ferry to work but they are
so wheel-dependent that rail stations and ferry landings must have
adjacent parking for the ever obtrusive automobile.

	But you fail to mention the foot or feet, the best method of
moving persons around.  We are having movements to rediscover
ambulation in the USA as a way to combat obesity.

	The real problem is scattered development which puts people
at or past the limits for human powered trans****tation.  Widespread
use of the automobile has allowed concentrated sup****t at a
considerable remove from housing.  Presently many folks believe that
they must have a car and that they must have access to high calorie
fast food as well as spirituous liquors.
