As opposed to the long suffering taxpayer paying through the nose to 
enforce prohibition?
Anyway, why does legalisation equate to welfare? No one said anything 
about government subsidised drugs. The simple truth is drugs should be 
like cigarettes and alcohol, available to adults at a commercial price, 
with a moderate "sin tax" to fund rehabs etc.

With the possibilty of an 80% reduction in crime from legalisation the 
"long suffering taxpayer" might actually get some good tax news for once
