You NEVER risk any kind of sparks around oxygen equipment. A taser
could damn well set off sparks, should one of the prods hit metal
equipment. And the prods are propelled by an explosive charge. Did you
think the cops throw the taser darts at the target?
You'd be surprised how often hospitals have operating room fires - and
how often home care patients on oxygen who just won't quit smoking have
burned down their homes.
Stupid bastard cops could have killed the patient and burned down the
entire wing of the hospital. But they just wanted to play with their
toy, rather than act like real men.
As to using a taser on a delirious 82 year-old, all three cops should be
charged with assault with a deadly weapon, fired, and jailed. And Mr.
Lasser needs to sue the hospital for a failure of care.
