This is the kind of gun-nut logic I complain about.  And here I make my 
mandatory disclaimer that I don't think much of gun-grabber logic either. 

Let's take gander shall we?

Get it?  The Confederacy is to black codes as elitists are to gun laws.  
Southern white supremacists wanted to keep black people economically 
enslaved the same way in which the city council of Morton Grove wants to 
keep its residents enslaved.  Yeah.

Perhaps the author writing in 1993 can be forgiven for not being 
prescient.  In 1994 the Republicans took control of the House, and from 
2002 to 2006, they controlled the Senate and the White House, seizing the 
oppotunity of power to transfer the tax burden down the economic scale to 
the middle class.  But these folks are the gun nuts' favorites.
