Hate crimes are in actual fact "thought crimes". And that implies
political control!  Who can say with certainty that they know for sure
what a persons thoughts are?  IF a person is shouting hate speech,
that is certainly different than crime "motivated" by thoughts of
hate?  Just look at the Yoo Kay and the way they criminalize
investigations of the holocaust. Much of Europe does this. Since when
did historical events get elevated beyond any investigation?  And this
goes double for the so-called holocaust where the books obviously have
been cooked and people have money to make and axes to grind. Since
when is history so holy that historians can't even study it?  It's all
about "thought crimes".  And if you can enforce a law banning one kind
of "thought" why not pass a law banning ANY KIND of thought that is an
opposition to those in power? And if you have the law, why not arrest
them and send them to the camps? And if the camps are too crowded and
they are not dying fast enough, how about you just generate a little
bit 'o genocide to speed the whole process along?  Oh My! look what
our wondrous "hate crime" law has become!  The wonderful law to jail
"Holocaust deniers" and other neonazis has suddenly become the basis
of Hitler's Reich! Well isn't that SPECIAL!
