Consider the death rate from malaria. That is a fairly substantial
human sacrifice. In theory, DDT is to be permitted where necessary,
but somehow, neither DDT nor any other cheap persistent insecticide is
ever found to be necessary.
We now have our first environmentalist famine, caused by restrictions
on oil search, restrictions on coal to liquid conversion, and state
subsidy and coercive imposition of biofuels. That is a fairly
substantial human sacrifice.
