PHOENIX - He has handled many high-profile cases here in the Valley,
but now a Phoenix Police detective is the target of one.
Right now Phoenix Police are investigating one of their own. Detective
Richard Polk, a father of two, is now charged with the ***ual
exploitation of a minor. This came after a search of his home and
computer.
Police are using words like accused criminal, ***ual exploitation and
child ****ography when describing their comrade. This is a harsh reality
for the department.
Phoenix Police were tipped off by the feds last September, eight months
ago, that ICE, as part of its "Operation Predator" program, was
investigating Polk.
Phoenix Police recently took over the case and Wednesday confronted Polk
while on the job at police headquarters before arresting him. He now
faces 10 counts.
Polk is accused of purchasing and sharing child ****ography using an
online banking service. Police searched the detective's home in Surprise
where they re****tedly found numerous "thumb drives" with approximately
20 videos, one depicting a 15-year-old girl ****d.
Another video showed an 8-year-old-girl ****d and blindfolded and tied
up with yellow ropes.
3TV went by Polk's home but no one answered the door.
As a detective with Phoenix Police for more than a decade, Polk has been
featured on A&E’s program "First 48" and, having handled some very
high-profile cases, police are now forced to look at whether any of
those could be in jeopardy.
Right now Polk is on supervised release. He is not allowed any contact
with minors except his own children and that is only while their mother
is present.

Michael Polk, 50, faces 10 counts of ***ual explotation of a minor. The
charges come after an investigation into Internet child ****graphy.
According to court documents, investigators found downloaded videos on
Polk's home computer. Those videos re****tedly featured children, some
younger than 15, engaging in *** acts.
Polk, who lives in Surprise, has been with the Phoenix Police Department
for more than 25 years.
PHOENIX - A Phoenix Police homicide detective has been arrested on child
**** charges.
Detective Mike Polk is a 27-year veteran of the force. He was arrested
late Wednesday afternoon.
So far the police department has not released the details of his arrest.
Polk has been involved in some high-profile murder investigations. He
has been on television featured on the A&E reality show, "The First
48". The show follows murder investigations in major cities around the
country.
Polk was featured in at least two episodes.

Imagine that, 6.4 children die at the hands of the very agencies that
are supposed to protect them and only 1.5 at the hands of parents per
100,000 children. CPS perpetrates more abuse, neglect, and ***ual abuse
and kills more children then parents in the United States. If the
citizens of this country hold CPS to the same standards that they hold
parents too. No judge should ever put another child in the hands of ANY
government agency because CPS nationwide is guilty of more harm and
death than any human being combined. CPS nationwide is guilty of more
human rights violations and deaths of children then the homes from which
they were removed. When are the judges going to wake up and see that
they are sending children to their death and a life of abuse when
children are removed from safe homes based on the mere opinion of a
bunch of social workers.

A recent study has found that 12-18 months after leaving foster care:
30% of the nation’s homeless are former foster children.
27% of the males and 10% of the females had been incarcerated
33% were receiving public assistance
37% had not finished high school
2% receive a college degree
50% were unemployed
Children in foster care are three to six times more likely than children
not in care to have emotional, behavioral and developmental problems,
including conduct disorders, depression, difficulties in school and
impaired social relation****ps. Some experts estimate that about 30% of
the children in care have marked or severe emotional problems. Various
studies have indicated that children and young people in foster care
tend to have limited education and job skills, perform poorly in school
compared to children who are not in foster care, lag behind in their
education by at least one year, and have lower educational attainment
than the general population.

The highest ranking federal official in charge of foster care, Wade Horn
of the Department of Health and Human Services, is a former child
psychologist who says the foster care system is a giant mess and should
just be blown up.

Four rigorous studies have found that at least 30 percent of America’s
foster children could be home right now if their parents had decent
housing.
This study found thousands of children already in foster care who would
have done better had child protection agencies not taken them away in
