Three mortar shells were fired from
Gaza towards the western Negev on
Wednesday afternoon,
following early morning barrages
of over a dozen shells from southern Gaza.
An IDF soldier operating near the Sufa
border crossing with other ground
forces was lightly wounded.
One of the shells landed near a house,
causing damage but no injuries.
The additional shells landed in open areas.
With the commencement of the barrage
kibbutz residents were requested to
enter fortified structures for a
substantial period of time.
Most of the residents in the
kibbutz do not have private shelters.

"I live just behind where the shell hit.
In those exact moments I had just
stepped outside and was talking on
my cell phone,"
kibbutz resident Doron Solomon told Ynet.
"I saw the smoke and realized it
had hit very close to the house.
I ran between the houses to make
sure no one had been injured,
but it seems as though no one
was nearby.
There's quite a bit of damage,
I called the community's security
officer so he could contact the
necessary authorities."
