with a very dark past , Cyprus is a hot spot better suited to a more
balanced UN representative
The things that served Alexander Downer very well in his Australian
political life are the things that will create even more problems in
Cyprus
Alexander Downer is IMHO the very last person I would pick
I have known the Downers over many generations , but even though he
did indeed serve his electorate very well , Cyprus is very differnt
indeed
The last thing they need is an Australian white christian capitalist
dynastic born to rule like Downer , it will never work

electorate was cleansed of all non white ,non christian, non
capitalist , very thoroughly over 150 years , naturally he is very
popular locally , any dissenters got a very quick message to move on

Smith gives '110pc sup****t' for Downer as UN envoy

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith says he is fully sup****ting his
predecessor becoming a United Nations envoy in Cyprus.
Former foreign minister Alexander Downer was Australia's longest
serving foreign minister, but is now a backbencher.
He is tipped to retire from Federal Parliament soon which would create
another federal by-election.
Yesterday Opposition Leader Brendan Nelson refused to say when Mr
Downer would retire from politics.
Fairfax newspapers were re****ting that Mr Downer would bow out of
politics "within days", but Dr Nelson would not speculate.
"He has done enormous service for the people of Mayo and for Australia
- the longest serving foreign minister as we all know. I would expect
that he will make a decision about his future in the not-too-distant
future," he said.
Mr Smith says he backs Mr Downer taking a United Nations job.
"I've made it clear that if the United Nations Secretary General
offers Mr Downer a position potentially as an envoy in Cyprus then the
Australian Government gives that 110 per cent sup****t," he said.

Please re consider Alexander Downer as a UN representative for Cyprus
He is IMHO totally unsuitable , I can not think of a worse choice
Please re examine his past , and the things he really stands for
Downer has never once contacted the only Mosque in his district or
electorate , never once , even though it is only a few hundred
meters , 5 minutes walk from his office
Non white non christian non capitalist people have been purged
constantly for 150 years , granted less so lately , but only
moderately so , Mayo is still so far right wing it almost certainly
is the most conservative most white most christian electorate in all
Australia and its been run by the Downers for over 100 years
Naturally he is well liked by locals , but Cyprus is totally
different , and Downer is totally unsuitable
