.... and derivatives of radiation from the sun such as wind, waves and
tides, plant matter for burning and processing to fuel, oil, etc.
What's that? Oil, you ask?
Yes, oil.
Oil is a renewable energy that originates from sunlight.
The only problem is that we are using it up about a million times faster
than it is renewing, so it is not a practical renewable resource.
All sources of energy that are derivatives of radiation from the sun
take time to process and ac***ulate this solar radiation in a condensed
form. The energy sources that are the most condensed take the longest
time to mature, such as coal and oil. Energy sources such as plant
matter, which is not as condensed take much less time, from an ear of
corn that is grown in a season to a 2000 year old Doug Fir or Sequoia
tree.
Today, thanks to something somewhere, we are able to change solar
radiation directly into electrical energy, cutting out the biological
middlemen involved in fossil fuels, waves and tides, wind and biomass.
If the US had poured a trillion dollars into developing solar energy
instead of into a war for oil in the Middle East, think what we could
have accomplished and the people who would still be alive and whole today.
