Presidents shouldn't be idiots.

In a big way Jimmy Carter created the mess in the middle east. He tried
to turn Afghanistan into a cold war ally provoking the Soviets to
invade. His heavy handed meddling in Iran's internal affairs was a
primary cause for it's down fall. And the Shah wasn't a puppet dictator
either as the left has tried to rewrite history. The Shah took power in
1941 and was a US ally during World War II.
