Return to Island of Liars (and Other Topical Items)

Folks in Los Angeles, who plan on going to the Olympic Games in Beijing
and
are worried about the possibility that they will have to go "cold turkey,"
as far as their addiction to Mexican style cuisine is concerned, can relax
because according to a reliable source, Mexican style food is available in
that city at a restaurant called Mexican Wave [1].
Chinese culture is responsible for the advertising slogan used by Japan:
"Land of the Rising Sun." The island nation lies to the East of China, for
them that is where the sun comes up, hence the catch phrase.
Speaking of Japan, folks who are timid about going to see the new Angelina
Jolie movie "Wanted" because they think it lacks material to spawn
intellectual conversation, might want to consider this while watching the
movie: Is it an attempt to Anglicize the Samurai/Ninja epic? We sent an
inquiry to one of Chicago's lesser known movie critics asking him to
confirm
our opinion. We are still awaiting his reply.
Existentialists might also want to see the aforementioned movie. Some of
the
dialog delivered by actor Morgan Friedman seems to sound very similar to
ideas expressed in Albert Camus' book, "The Rebel."
KABC, channel 7, in Los Angeles, used a segment of the local news, on
Saturday, July 5, 2008, to inform viewers that the idea, based on the
commercials seen on TV, that they would see a comedy if they went to Will
Smith's new film was erroneous. It seems that the film is a drama. Don't
they realize that "bait and switch" is a classic bit of American
salesman****p?
When the President sold the citizens on going to war to look for WMD's in
Iraq, none of the network news programs made a subsequent effort to re****t
that the weapons were never found. To be fair and balanced, that should
read: "haven't been found yet."
This week a prominent Republican suggested that President Bush not attend
their party's national nominating convention.
This gives Democrats a major op****tunity to emulate the tactics of Karl
Rove. Shouldn't they hold a simultaneous tribute to the 43rd President?
Wouldn't that get more news coverage than the convention itself and thus
be
worth the effort? Wouldn't a great number of liberal entertainers donate
their services to such an endeavor? Doesn't the city of Nuremberg have a
facility designed for those kinds of celebrations?
So the guy goes to island "A" and asks" "Are both islands inhabited by
liars?" The liars will answer "yes" and the folks who tell the truth will
say "no." He will then know if he is on the island of lairs.
(If only it were that easy while listening to conservative talk radio.)
Hunter Thompson said: "Nixon was a professional politician, and I despised
everything he stood for - but if he were running for president this year
against the evil Bush-Cheney gang I would happily vote for him."
Now the disk jockey will play the Four Preps "26 Miles" and we will swim
out
of here. Have a tropical paradise type week.

spells dissolve, and the people recovering their true sight, restore their
government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are
suffering deeply in spirit,
and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public
debt. But if the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have
patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an op****tunity of winning
back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are
at
stake."
