The most likely theory I've heard is that part of the mafia was behind
it. According to an interview with an ex-mafioso in a usually reputable
Dutch magazine, Jack Ruby had connections with the New Orleans mafia,
and apparently they also has reasons to want Kennedy dead: his dad had
connections who helped him become president, and once in power, both
Kennedies repaid that service by hunting down the mafia.
I have no idea if daddy Kennedy really did have mafia connections, but
if he did, I consider this a reasonably likely theory.
